SHIVERING SONGS INITIAL 2023 LINE-UP

Shivering Songs is excited to share an impressive initial line-up for its 2023 edition, announcing performances from Cadence Weapon, Hayden, Nico Paulo, Owen Steel, and a twentieth anniversary celebration of Grand Theft BusBirth Of Confusion album. 

Shivering Song 2023 takes place January 18-22 in Fredericton. Passes and individual tickets go on sale Friday November 11, 12Noon, at

Cadence Weapon’s Rollie Pemberton will additionally act as the festival’s featured author, hosting the Songwriters & Storytellers afternoon and reading from 2022 book Bedroom Rapper (Penguin Random House Canada), while Shivering Songs has also announced a special presentation from Fredericton-born John Batt, the creator and admin of @canada.gov.ca.  

Festival organizers are particularly excited about this year’s roster: “We’re thrilled to be able to feature so many voices of this next generation of the Canadian songwriting tradition,” said Shivering Songs co-organizer, Zach Atkinson. “After being displaced for a couple of years, we look forward to going back to our roots with a mid-winter festival.”

Shivering Songs will become a five day event in 2023, with United Way co-presentation Songs of the City moving to a Wednesday night kickoff slot. The 2023 edition will also see the return of Shivering Songs’ popular outdoor Snow Dome venue and vinyl fair. 

A midwinter celebration of songwriting and storytelling, and flagship partner of Fredericton FROSTival, Shivering Songs hosts internationally renowned artists in historic and intimate spaces throughout Downtown Fredericton, on the unceded territory of the Wolastoqiyik people.

"While the music is beyond comparison, the secret weapon of Shivering Songs is certainly their gorgeous space," said award winning local architect and past performer, John Leroux. "It's an incredible feeling being in a historic treasure that's so full of music and life, where the 19th century and the 21st dovetail perfectly.”
