CBC East Coat Music Hour Song Camp
In the three days leading up to Shivering Songs, CBC East Coast Music Hour will bring together six songwriters from across Atlantic Canada to weave something entirely new. Six voices, one creative space—collaborating, experimenting, and letting new songs take shape. These songs will find their first breath on the opening night, January 23, 2025, at The Fredericton Playhouse. Looking forward to sharing that magic with you.

Jake Nicoll
Canadian indie folk songwriter and producer Jake Nicoll began writing and recording music with his twin brother Billy Nicoll on their Windows 95 PC in 2003. In 2009 he moved to St John’s Newfoundland and his home studio has become a focal point for the local music industry for close to a decade. In 2016 his double album Half of Nothing/Two Things won the Borealis Prize for best album in St. John’s and set him up as a go-to producer in the local scene. His music is thoughtful and introspective, yet always tinged with a playful sense of experimentation. As Sandy May of the Overcast aptly put it: "With each album released Nicoll has explored a different facet of music, and the music making process, analytically taking it apart, holding it up to the light, and putting it back together to create something distinctly his." A prolific engineer, producer and collaborator, Jake has recorded and mixed over 60 albums to date by artists including Kelly McMichael, BA Johnston, Jenina MacGillivray, John Moran, and The Burning Hell.
