Shivering Songs is excited to present Buck 65 in Fredericton, as part of this September’s Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival. Buck 65 (a.k.a. Rich Terfry of CBC’s smash hit radio program Drive) is a Canadian music icon, having released more than twenty albums over the last two decades, including collaborations with Feist, Gord Downie and Jenn Grant. While Buck 65 began as a hip hop project, it’s evolved into a genre all on it’s own. Underpinned by an extensive background in abstract hip hop, his body of work has extensively incorporated blues, country, rock and folk.

Having spent nearly two decades creating uniquely affecting music defined by deep personal sentiment and attracting listeners across musical genres, Hayden signed to Arts & Crafts for the release of his seventh full-length record, Us Alone.

“It makes Us Alone an oddly comforting record, not exactly in a nostalgic sense, but in the knowledge that Hayden continues to embrace the future, not alone, but with the rest of us.” – exclaim!

“Us Alone is the type of record music fans need. A gentle reminder that as we age and live changes, music can still be everything. Well, almost everything.” – Herohill

Since his emergence from Toronto’s burgeoning alternative scene with1995’s now iconic Everything I Long For,Hayden has intrigued, both for hishighly introspective personality and musical independence – performing most instruments on his records and almost always engineering, mixing, and producing as well as self-releasing on his own label, Hardwood Records.

Us Alone is a subtle, emotional and sonically warm journey written and performed by one of Canada’s most consistent artists. A welcome addition to a brilliant career.

Shivering Songs is excited to present Justin Rutledge and The Olympic Symphonium at Saint John’s Sanctuary Theatre and Fredericton’s Charlotte Street Arts Center this April 26 and 27, respectively.

Garnering impressive amounts of critical acclaim in the eight years since his debut, Justin Rutledge has made a career out of creating arrestingly moving and lyrically meticulous music. His stoic songs that rehabilitate the heart and illuminate the dark have earned Rutledge two Juno nods, a Galaxy Rising Star award, a Polaris Prize nomination and the title of Toronto’s Best Local Songwriter (NOW Magazine), as well as shows with artists such as Blue Rodeo, Dolly Parton, Martha Wainwright and Great Lake Swimmers.

Crafting delicately arranged folk-pop that drips with bittersweet melodies, soaring harmonies, and an awful lot of passion, The Olympic Symphonium have been sharing their quiet world with us since 2005. A collaborative effort between three multi-instrumentalists, songwriters, and friends, Nick Cobham, Kyle Cunjak, and Graeme Walker, the band recently recorded their fourth full-length at the infamous Salty Towers in St.Andrews, New Brunswick and are looking forward to a summer release.

Shivering Songs is proud to present Jenn Grant & Cuff The Duke at Saint John’s Sanctuary Theatre this Thursday March 21st.

Born and raised on Prince Edward Island, Halifax-based Jenn Grant embodies the pure melancholy of roots and the shimmering sound of vintage AM pop. The East Coast nightingale has been honored by the Polaris Long List, graced the covers of newspapers across the country, and performed on national radio and TV. Grant has also toured heavily across North America and Europe, sharing stages with the likes of Fesit, Josh Ritter and Ron Sexsmith. Alt-country road-warriors Cuff The Duke, meanwhile, released their sixth album, Union, in October 2012. The conclusion of a two-part series, Union sees the band move away from its acoustic oriented style, towards a more sonically textured, electric sound. The result? Cuff The Duke’s most inspired album to date.

Tickets for this intimate March show are $26 (taxes and surcharges included). Physical tickets will be on sale Friday February 15th at the Sanctuary Theatre and Backstreet Records SJ, while online tickets are now available here.

We’re excited to announce that festival curators The Olympic Symphonium will kick off Shivering Songs 2013 with a free show next Thursday at Fredericton’s Beaverbrook Art Gallery.

Crafting delicately arranged folk-pop that drips with bittersweet melodies, soaring harmonies and an awful lot of passion, the band has been sharing their quiet world with us since 2005. In 2011, they launched the first edition of Shivering Songs in celebration of their third album The City Won’t Have Time To Fight, and the festival quickly became an annual fixture in Fredericton. The band recently recorded their fourth full-length at the infamous Salty Towers in St.Andrews, New Brunswick and are looking forward to a summer release.

This Thursday evening show will launch Shivering Songs’ third edition. The Beaverbrook Art Gallery will open its doors to the public at 7pm, while the music will begin at 8pm.
